The idiot is back

Hi all

9 months ruined and back to square one,the moderation devil got me , one pint won’t hurt ..it didn’t for a few weeks then a quick glass of wine and boom - 2 bottles a nite :-(

im so annoyed with myself , the 9 months off (apart from first few weeks) I felt so alive !

anyway - day one

Welcome back rainyengland, sorry to hear you fell off the wagon. Dust yourself down and climb back up. The 9 months is not lost. You've shown yourself that you can live alcohol-free but need to re-check your plan and recognise that moderation is not an option.

Well, at least no one can fault you for not having a sense of humor.

Well, at least you ran the experiment and lived to tell about it. Some people never make it back. Just recently I ran into someone I knew from back when I went to AA meetings and he told me about a lady who also had been going to meetings and she did the same thing you did and died during a binge.

It's never worth it. It's like playing Russian Roulette.

No sense beating yourself up. I hope you find a way to tell it, "No," the next time and every time after that.

Glad you're back.

Yes, glad you're back. As stated, some people don't make it.
I relapsed after seven months once and I was off to the races for another bender after bender.
Yes, climb back up and begin again.

Hey,you came back and you know you can do this. You lost that time not that knowledge. Maybe your confidence is shaken but it will come back as well.

You are not an idiot you have recognised what has happened and are now putting things right. The 9monthd are not wasted they have shown you were happier without alcohol which is not surprising as alcohol is a deppresant.

The moderation devil is a really unpleasant incipient thing for us alcoholics. WE cannot moderate.

it is unfortunate when a slip happens. Don't beat yourself up about it and stay sober.

You aren't the first and you won't be the last. You are no monster. You spent a lot more time sober than drunk for that 9 months.

Now saddle up, weather the first few days, and start working on letting it go for good this time.

Best to you-

Welcome back and thanks for posting this. We can all relate. It’s also a wake up call for people such as myself in the early stages of this attempt at sobriety that no matter how much sober time you have you can not moderate no matter how much you try to convince yourself you can. As I have discovered numerous times.

Thanks and well done for posting.

Good to see you, rainyengland. That happened to me, too - and it made me more determined. I learned there could never be 'just one' - not ever. As a result, I've never tested myself again. You can reclaim your life, there is no doubt.
