The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.

I have a long list. I try to keep it simple though because I tend to overthink things and it’s not always good

Someone else posted about Allen Carr’s book. I imagine that too - alcohol is like a poisonous pitcher plant

"Look for the people who have what I want" is one I heard early on that stuck with me. Keeps me focusing on what life can be like and where I want to keep going! These folks also tend to be the ones grateful for wherever they are in the present which includes the good and the bad.

Mine is rather simple but applies to a broad spectrum of life, not just alcoholism. And the saying is "do the next right thing, every day".

^^^ my husband and I say "making the next right choice"- applies to anything and everything, perhaps especially the small stuff because that builds everything else.

I don't have one particular mantra. But what I do have is a load of music/lyrics to draw inspiration from. It stops me in my tracks at times and at other times it spurs me on. Or I think about some of the hard times others have gone through and how they made it through. They often turned to music. It helped rally the troops. Music has been my therapy for a long long time now and if I stray to far from it I find myself in quicksand again.

I will never drink again, and I will never change my mind. No matter what.
