Not really sure how this works but I am reaching out in hopes to pull myself out of the hole of addiction to alcohol. To beer to be specific. It’s bad. I’ve kicked the habit before but came back hard and I have been making excuses bc I live in a place where there isn’t AA or anyone I know who struggles with this problem but I woke up and am slowly coming to my senses. I am committing a slow suicide if I don’t quit. So here I am. Hoping to meet some good ppl that get me. God bless you all and have a wonderful day

Hi and welcome Eliana

this is a great place for support and good ideas, My poison was beer too and I drank so much it nearly killed me.

You're really wise to get out now
Hope to see you around some more

D

Hey! It's good to meet you. There are loads of us in early recover, just learning and figuring out how to live sober.

I post on the 24 hour thread. It full of lovely folks and might be a good place to start meeting people.

Sometimes you know it's just time to stop.....to change things.....it's hard but it's a great place to get to. I've spent the last year just learning about what this addiction is and what I can do to move foward. There is loads of great info on this site, so I recommend you read around and see what makes sense for you. Gabe xx

Welcome. Booze is a slow suicide, I agree. Many of us have been there, I've learned so much from the moderators and members here at SR. If you can't do AA, what's your plan?

Glad you're here Eliana and you made a wise decision to come here. Tons of support and awesome advice. You'll build a family of friends who will support you in your journey to sobriety. You can do this so focus on one day at a time and you will be sooooooo much better.

We're here to encourage you, Eliana. It's so good to have you here.

I drank for 30 yrs. When I joined SR I was instantly less anxious when I found I wasn't alone. All the feelings I thought were just my own - others had experienced too. Among my family & friends, I had no one to discuss my problem with - everyone was a social drinker. Being here made all the difference to me - I made it - and you can too. Welcome!
