Six nips tonight

Don’t know why. Except maybe I’ve wanted them all week? Trying to let the booze go forever, but it’s so hard. I do ten days standing on my head, easy peasy. Then I want to drink for a night. Then back to abstinence. I’m posting here at SR, going to AA, reading literature, but dang if I can get it. Why can’t I get it?

It would seem that you still want to drink more than you want to be sober. When you can reverse that, when you want to be sober more than you want to drink, then you'll stay sober.

Are you following any sort of plan for sobriety? A good plan can make the difference between drinking again and staying sober. You said you're going to AA. Are you working the steps?

The other thing I can suggest is practicing gratitude every day. That works wonders for me.

Have you thought about making a recovery action plan eyes?

I think after a week or two we PHYSICALLY feel better so it's easy to fall back into the drink abstain drink cycle if that makes sense? I know I did it over and over until I really started working hard at sobriety. I'm coming up on 50 days now, so still early, but the cravings have gotten a lot easier to manage. Keep at it, eyes, you can do it!

Ick, there was nothing fun about it. Nothing. Dee - I thought I had a plan, but I see that I have to revisit it. I hate this ping pong.

I get it. AA is not a magical cure. Hope you get it.

For a long time I had a great plan but didn’t USE it when I needed to.

Wanting a drink never hurt me.

My reaction to wanting a drink damn near killed me, though.
