I really want a drink

OMG I really really have a terrible craving all evening for a bottle of wine
Don't know where this has come from as I've been doing so well
Almost Four months
I won't drink
But it's unsettled me
Anyone else experience this

I drank wine at night on the weekends too for many years, so I understand where you're coming from. It was an ingrained habit that needs time to break. Resist the craving, and you are building new habits and new neural pathways in the brain. Congrats on 4 months!

I just drank after 60 days. It was really easy, hardly any cravings. Then it got hard. I obsessed all day Thursday and didn't stop it. I should have posted here. I should have gone to a meeting. I SHOULD have... But I didn't. And it wasn't worth it. Starting over sucks. But the only way to stop having to start over is to stop giving up.
Congrats on 4 months. That's awesome!

At around five months I had that happen.

It may happen again.

Double down, my friend. Every time I make it past one of those days I get to rack another sober day AND I don't have to deal with a drinking day.

Keep it going, stay busy. Do something good for you. Totally normal.

Don't pick up a drink and go to bed sober tonight. You'll never regret that.

I drank just after I hit 4 months in February 2015. And I am still fighting to make it back to that much time.
Don't drink. It's not worth it! Fight your AV, you can do it.

Cravings happen. Cravings pass. I have never regretted not giving in. I have always regretted giving in.

This too shall pass.

Yes--cycles of it, but if you hang tough cravings past relatively quickly, and power of urges gets less over time. . .

I am grateful that I haven't had rogue cravings in a while. But when I do, now stay with me here, I do burpies until I can't do them anymore. Now if anyone is inclined to poo poo this, I understand. But don't knock it until you try it. After 4 sets of 30 burpies I'm generally not thinking of drinking anymore.

And then the brain associates that feeling with lots of burpies....neuroplasticity. Its a thing....

Your AV goes right for the entire bottle, eh? Not even a bit subtle.

Get down in a position to do push-ups and hold it there. After a short time your brain starts screaming THIS HURTS, STOP DOING THIS! But if you ignore your brain and keep holding that position, you'll build muscle.

Your brain is screaming at you on another issue. Ignore it and keep holding that position. You're building sober muscles.
