That's quite a list! No rational person would sign up for that for sure.
Here's a weird thing about that list though, your 'addiction' or AV ( that little voice that always says "one more", "it will be different this time", "more drinks this time you will be better at 'it", ect ect) loves that list.
It knows you are shutting off Its supply of booze. It also knows the things on that list are unpleasant . And It knows that eventually the things on that list will lose their 'sting' given enough time.
Beat It at its own game , make a list of the things that weren't 'so bad' and even enjoyable and combine the two. Title the list : No Matter What.
No Matter What you have decided to never again listen to, debate, negotiate , bargain with that little voice. From now on just ignore that pea brain little voice, It can be annoying at first like a two year old throwing a tantrum , but tantrum don't /can't do anything or make anything happen , You're the boss not It.
Congrats on your decision, six days is awesome, keep going until you lose count ! You got this

It doesn't taste good, if you have to acquire a taste for something, that should tell you right there it isn't good for you. At least that's me, the 20 minutes of joy I got from it vs. the choking down the first one so subsequent ones could taste good, the how quickly that enjoyment changed to not really enjoying it and chasing a high I had maybe once or twice in my life, which when you look back on it had nothing to do with alcohol and everything to do with enjoying where I was and who I was with.
I'd agree with Carl - it's not really the alcohol so much as me that was the problem.
The good thing is that every single thing on your list - and whatever get added to it- is 100% preventable based on our choices. Congrats on Day 6, keep posting and reading.

things that rock about sobriety!
no hangovers.
no blackouts
no remorse over yesterday
i could start loving myself

Rock list expanded:
The money you save!
Don't have to lie or deny
Your health can improve
No blame for DUI or worse while driving
Remember what people told you
Better example to set for your children/loved ones
Don't make an ass out of yourself

You're a better friend
You earn respect from t'other half
You keep your job or get a better one
As you gain £'s you lose lbs
Become waaaay more interesting than a burbling wreck
Deal with emotions logically so no pointless argy-bargy

I agree, totally, that the pros of not drinking is an equally important list, and even more importantly as a way of STAYING sober.
When I did this exercise in outpatient rehab, we did the cons of drinking (using) and the pros of not drinking...but also the pros of drinking and the cons of not drinking. There are some examples of the latter two categories or else we wouldn’t have continued to do so for as long as we did. I think it very useful to look at the big picture. The latter two are all short term and often irrational. Recognizing them helped me move past them. Transparency and openness are the enemies of our addictive voice. Shine a light on it, brightly and from all sides. See how ugly it is, and also how small it is in the grand scheme of things.
