My past life
Hi all,
I've been doing well I'm not a day counter, I figure as long as I fall asleep sober it's a good day. Anyway this moring I was clearing out my closent getting old suits in good shape to donate. I have a blue pinstripe that my belly and butt outgrew years ago and as I picked it up off the rack, it seemed really heavy. Every pocket had full bottles of whisky in it, I don't even remember stashing those bottles....my wife helped me dump them down the drain. I don't have any memory of stashing 6 bottles in that suit....the insanity of alcoholism. Everyone hang tough this alcoholism doesn't play around. I think I'm close to 8 months since I did have that drunk in August I think. Thank God for AA and SR. You all take care, be strong, be kind, and be safe.
Mick

Most of my booze was out in the open, as I had nobody to hide it from.
Otherwise I'm sure I would have been finding it for months!
Reminders like this are helpful to me, and should give you a real sense of accomplishment.

Excellent job on dumping no questions asked. I owned a company when I was drinking and we had trucks. I recall finding bottles of rum under the back benchseats for a couple months after I quit. LIke you, they went straight in the trash.
Regarding your "old life", 8 months is pretty fresh in your old life (not taking anything away from your accomplishment), but wait until you hit a couple years etc....I not only view it as a past life, but I was a completely different person then. We change, for the better.

We bought a house about 4 months after I got sober, and when I was packing, I found soooo many bottles—empty and full. I’m so happy to live in a home now where I’ve never taken a drink.
