Nearly caved in......

Coming to the end of my day four and I was waiting for my daughter in the car and reading to kill the time.
The woman in the book indulged in quite a few glassss if white wine and it was described in great detail. You all know what hapened next. Yes my AV was triggered.
I thought on it for a bit, wound the tape through and decided I wasnt prepared to chuck my precious four days away by drinking because of a fictional person in a book !!!
So here I am back at home eating a healthy salad with a glass of cold water and looking forward to a drama I am following on tv later.
I have already patted myself on the back 🙌

Well done!

By the way, I wrote in one of your threads a few months back about children although I did not write in your recent 'role model' thread. I was such a poor role model that my elder son said he will never drink, especially as he sees there is an issue in the wider family. Your daughter might just have a glass of wine now and then but remain a 'normal drinker'. It's not worth projecting on what might happen as it might not happen and then you've wasted lots of time fretting about nothing. My son and I have mended a lot of bridges. You will too.

Stay strong.

Thanks decchemist. All these positive stories really help.
And yes I am so proud of myself for not caving tonight. I was actually parked outside a Tesco supermarket (uk) so could have easily popped in for a bottle (and I seriously condidered it) but made the right decision and drove straight home.
I really hope I can build on this.

Way to go on not caving. Lots of things trigger me. Beer commercials are the worst. I often have to change the channel. Playing the tape forward is a tool I use often. Good job!

Very cool to hear!! Well done

Play it forward.

Great tactic.

And also realizing that you were being triggered by a fictional character, then taking control. Very nice.

Excellent. Really excellent.

Pat yourself on the back for sure. A key to create change is to make small wins happen and build around them. Momentum!

And also kudos for rejecting that nasty trick our AV has of comparing our current selves to some fictional outside imagery.

Carry on!
