I keep having drinking dreams
Hi Chilled
I'm not much for dream interpretation - I had drinking dreams for a while...and sometimes still do.
When I'm awake I'm not thinking of drinking or upset by sobriety.
Any thing troubling or stressful going on in your life Chilled?

I'm still dealing with the ocd but I'm no longer in that weird horrific place anymore.
I’m over two years sober now and I have them all the time. One common scenario is that after binging over a weekend, I get upset I’ll have to admit to the sober recovery folks that I blew my sobriety streak.

I'm 13 months sober and I still have them, not as often but maybe once a week. While they are uncomfortable I find them useful, they remind me that there is no going back to "normal" drinking for me - normal people don't dream like that.
Ditto
I have been sober for 3 years and a bit and I still have the occasional drinking dream, just had one the other night, after reading the other drinking dream thread
I quit smoking 11 yrs ago, can't remember my last smoking dream, but they do crop up on occasion.
And the ex from 28 ish years ago, he still crops up in a random dream!
I know they can be disturbing but they should lessen with time. And they are just dreams. Personally, I don't believe there is any secret meaning to our dreams.

I'm glad to see you too Chill.
Stay strong in your recovery
working it in every area of your
life and one day your dreams
will amaze you and you will
be very grateful for them.
I know, because they do for me.

Having lurked on these forums for a bit and done some reading of various sober blogs, it strikes me these dreams are common amongst ex-drinkers. I myself had a very vivid dream one night recently that I was in bar where free samples of this and that were being offered and, while I turned the whiskey down flat (I’ve never liked it), I knocked back a couple of IPAs. I was so disappointed in myself in the dream and then so relieved to wake up sober, even though it was to a monster headache! Best to you.

I had one last night where a friend and myself went to a football game, got drunk, ended up on a plane by accident that was going to Canada and I was broke with no way to pay to get home. Was glad to wake up this morning and no more late night taco bell for me.
I think they are harmless, and may even reflect a deeply rooted sincerity about staying sober.
