non alcoholic beer and wine

I have some non alcoholic beer and wine at my house. I'm wondering if anyone drinks them? Or if they just lead to triggered cravings.

There's been a lot of debate about them, whether or not they lead to the real thing. I don't drink NA wine cause I never drank wine for the taste, just to get drunk.

I vote no.

It's all about old behaviours for me.

There's so many other yummy things to drink that won't remind you of your former alcoholic drinks of choice.

I tried it years ago. Didn't like the taste, so went back to regular.

Just remember this.... Non-alcoholic drinks are for non-alcoholics! Just my $.02 worth.

I will not take the risk. They won';t satisfy my alcohol craving and I think they would just make it harder for me to not drink the real stuff. And I really DO NOT need that risk.

I would not do it either.
Like Least, I did not drink for the taste but to get drunk so I don't see the point of NA beverages.

I also say no. I don't ingest ANY alcohol (including food, though at 2 yrs I don't freak out if a little is cooked into something, but I stop eating immediately and return the dish). NA beer (at least, and I don't know about the wine) usually does have a small amount of alcohol in it.

My thought would be what's the point. If you truly like wine or beer that much you will be disappointed cause it doesn't taste the same.

And what good can come from it?

The only benefit that can possibly come from it is that it taste like the wine or beer you used to drink.

The possible costs are many.

I did the NA beer thing right before my 2-year relapse.
I am an alcoholic, I don't drink anything NA!
I drank to get drunk

There are many NA beers these days that are 0.0%, as well as wines, but even so, it's just romanticizing something you can't have and is pointless, obv.

Not giving the booze industry anymore of my money.
It’s a no from me.
Johny cash told me to drink pure H2O ( leave that junk alone)
Sparkling water hits the refreshment spot beautifully.

People who drank screwdrivers should not drink orange juice.
People who drank rum and coke should not drink coke.
People who drank bloody marys should not drink tomato juice.
People who drank long island ice tea shouldn't drink ice tea.
People who drank anything with club soda shouldn't drink club soda.
People who drank kamikazes shouldn't drink lime anything.
People who drank hurricanes shouldn't drink fruit punch.
People who ate jello shots should not eat jello.
People who drank wine shouldn't drink grape juice.
People who drank spiked eggnog should not drink regular eggnog.

What's my point? Exactly. What's my point?

If someone offered me an NA beer I would most likely turn it down, unless it was one of the few that are actually good. And there are very few. Every beer company now puts out a non-alcoholic beer. And most of them taste like p!$$. If you want to 'pretend' you are still drinking, go ahead, but it will probably lead most people back to wanting "real" beer. And until one understands the consequences of substituting NA beer for 'real' beer, one should not consider it. If one is solid in their sobriety and would like to have a 'cold one' some day, go for it.
As for NA wines, considering 99% of the NA beers are lousy, 9999% of the NA wines are just as bad or worse. You'd be better off getting some pomegranate juice and cutting it with spring water - now that is very good. I love it.

To be fair, there's probably a larger percentage of real beers that taste like **** than NA's.
