Reasons I’m not going to drink today ... traveling for work and lonely ...

Reasons I am not drinking today: (I have been sober since December 10th ... but am struggling today ..)

(1). In the beginning, I felt more vibrant and outgoing when I drank ... Now, I get lazy and want to sleep. (Add in a job in sales and you make less money) ... ‘high-functioning’ no longer exist for me.

(2). I can drive anywhere on a whim ... no timing myself until I’m legal to drive and still giving every police car a second look (questioning if I calculated correctly).

(3). I haven’t scared the dog or puked on the cat (reference to my very first post)

(4) weight loss ... I can consume my daily calorie limit in alcohol ... so I have steadily been loosing weight.

(5) I am enough ... I don’t need alcohol.

(6) my 501c3 and troop that I lead but won’t name are thriving now that I have a clear mind ...

Just thinking of reasons between appointments ...

Look at you, being all proactive and productive!

You got sober during the hardest time of the year, for sure. And you did it!

You can do anything.

Sending you applause and a hug.

Travelling for any reason is no fun anymore, so pat yourself on the back for getting through this sober. Good job on being sober since December 10th!

I 2nd this! My last work trip was a nightmare. Across the country alone and I left with drama from my ex, Old me would have 'loved' to use that trip to 'party/escape',but I didn't and made a lot of lifelong decisions while I was there. I used the time to plan out my future single and what's next in my life..what do I want to do now? It was hard, but I'm glad I did it. Probably harder than when I first quit and I was 9mo sober at the time.

I was a road warrior (traveled for over a decade for business) and I know how lonely the road can be. Hotel rooms in far away cities and clients who wanted me to shut down the bar with them.

There is no life problem that alcohol can't make worse.

Have a great day.
