Back to day one :(

Went to a friends house this afternoon and she offered me a drink. I accepted. Right after I went to a meeting, too.

Damn

Well you're working on it, right? At some point you will get sick of the whole cycle and find the peace you're seeking. Just do your best now. You can't change the past.

" Cunning, baffling, powerful" Alcohol doesn't discriminate on time of day or even just leaving a meeting. Just don't give up trying to quit.

HI soberseeking
you're not the first person to go a week or so and then just give in to the next temptation. It's hard.

Having a Recovery Action Plan makes it less hard tho, and makes your recovery that little bit more resilient.

Check it out:

Glad you came right back and posted. Dee's link is a great one. Having a recovery plan was what finally helped me to get sober.

It happens, it's over, move on and have a plan for the next time you are offered a drink so there will never be a day one again. Glad you are back.

I had to stay away from friends who would offer me a drink in early sobriety. Working with a sponsor doing step work made the difference. Reading the Doctors Opinion many times helped me with step one. It took me awhile to realize I was indeed an alcoholic. I would say it, think I was admitting it, but did not truly concede to my inner most self.

Around 6 months I was better prepared to engage with others when alcohol was present, but would only go there upon having a good reason and being fit, as we say. Thankfully, there are other places I will never visit again - along with some "friends."

My avatar reminds me daily it's not the caboose that will kill me, it's the engine - that first drink.

Keep coming back
