So lost
Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
And think of you
Caught up in circles confusion--
Is nothing new
Flashback--warm nights--
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories,
Time after--
Sometimes you picture me--
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you've said--
Then you say--go slow--
I fall behind--
The second hand unwinds
If you're lost you can look--and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you--I'll be waiting
Time after time
And think of you
Caught up in circles confusion--
Is nothing new
Flashback--warm nights--
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories,
Time after--
Sometimes you picture me--
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you've said--
Then you say--go slow--
I fall behind--
The second hand unwinds
If you're lost you can look--and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you--I'll be waiting
Time after time

SRs all about advice - no ones going to make you do anything you feel uncomfortable in doing
I guess it depends on whether the loved one is ready to stop or not.
Pretty hard to stop someone if they don't want to, or can't see a problem.
A lot of people try things like AlAnon - some 'detach with love' when what is going on with their loved one becomes too painful.
There is support for loved ones here too - not just the addict - lots of support and encouragement and good advice

How do you help a loved one with addiction? ?

I feel like anything ive done hasnt helped, sometimes think its made things worse. Love isnt enough. I guess healing ourselves is ultimately up to ourselves. Its heartbreaking to watch & feel helpless. Still that pales in comparison to what they are experiencing.
Hi again clubzackley - I was the alcoholic not the loved one.
you'll probably be better re-asking that question in the Friends and Family section

but here's a few links that might help explain the idea:
