Las Vegas trip

This Sunday we go to Vegas. I'm not going to drink. There I put it out there so now you can all hold me accountable. I'll be sure to keep this thread updated as I go along. Will only be there Sunday thru Wednesday. My trips have been failures in the past. I'm determined not to let that happen.

Did you put some specifics in your plan to help during your trip?

Well they had a tour that included free drinks and I decided to choose the one that didn't have any drinks at all. I think the biggest risk will be sitting there at the blackjack tables when the waitresses come around with the free drink offering. I will just quickly order a ginger ale. We could have flown in on Friday and I choose not to come in until Sunday just for the trade show dinner with our sales rep and then out. My hope is to win BIG and absolutely ZERO drinking. But the golden rule with gambling is to never spend more than what you can afford to lose.

Is this a "must do" trip? You are not a month sober, putting yourself in a situation that are similar to ones that have been your downfall before.

Have you ever been to an AA meeting? There are plenty in Vegas--give one a try!

Hi DoggoneCarl... this is a must. No getting out of it. I promise I'm not drinking. My last slip was 1 night. So I've been sober for almost 4 months. But I started the clock over because of the slip. If I'm being honest I had to start it over.

Coldfusion... I have been to meetings and I bet they would be hoot in Vegas. Probably a livelier crowd than where I live now.

I do like putting it out there that I will be in a vulnerable location so that I feel compelled to check in, because I don't want to disappoint you all. Mostly I don't want to disappoint myself. I'm actually very excited just to see the sites.

Will stop by pawn shop just for you! I'll put pics here. Forgot all about that. Love that show. Trying to squeeze in a David Copperfield Magic Show. Our sales rep doesn't drink so we are in good hands I asked him why he didn't drink when we were in Key West and he said because he has family issues with addiction. This will be a quick but fun trip.

This trip was a fun time. It was kind of weird being in Vegas so close to the recent shooting tragedy though. Just a sadness in the city.... We had a lovely dinner with our sales rep last night. Dinner was so awesome. Stone Crab, chop steak, mac n cheese, brussell sprouts, hash browns, key lime pie.... Oh my goodness. Then we hit the slot machines and was up to our room by 10pm. It was a nice Halloween.

Eh that pawn shop ain't all that. I went and now I can say I was there. It looks so much bigger on TV because it is rather small. They also don't call Rick in unless there is something cool, then they call the camera crew, do their research etc.

Go see the Hoover Dam.
