Tired

I've been here time and time again. I don't expect you all to cheer me on. I'm just glad you allow me back.
It's worse than ever. Day drinking. So ashamed.

I'm glad you're back LC - and if I feel like cheering you on I will

You got some pretty good responses back in March.

Even tho I know it's the last thing you want to do, I think you need to take action if you want to change.

In active addiction we take action every day, even if it's only to buy more booze - we just have to refocus that effort into recovery.

Any ideas on how you might start?

Yes, lots of ideas on changes, but as the night goes on, the faster my reaching for the drink is. It feels better to be numb.

You're not speaking to novices here.

I don't buy that it feels that good right now - you're here on SR for a reason LC

Yeah, it's almost chocking it down, but I know after half a bottle in it won't make me gag and I'll feel smooth

Hey, welcome back! Good idea!
Numb is the antihesis of feeling.
We don't like to feel all those feely feelings, I know. You can relearn how to feel, or learn for the first time. You just cannot get any positive results gripping the bottle.
Amazing news is you can put that enemy in it's place and you will be so much more capable of living as opposed to existing.
Come w/us!

As opossed to existing. That is what makes me so sad. Thank you. It feels like this is all there is. Hard to imagine, so hard to imagine feeling anything good.

Life is so much better now for me at 2 months.
I could never seem to get past 3-5 days before and I had started to drink in the day(I work from home)
It is hard to imagine how much better it can be, but as you said you are existing, not living at the moment.
You can do it, I can, YOU can.

I'm glad to see you, LifeChanges - you'll always be welcomed back.

I drank 30 yrs. & never imagined my life without it. Here I am - almost 10 yrs. sober. Being numb & foggy is no way to go through life. I thought I was having fun, protecting myself from unhappiness - but I was hiding from reality. Facing things with a clear head is so much better. You can get free.

Numbing yourself and drowning in a bottle is a cowardly and pathetic way to go through life: I know because this is what I tried the past several years. Drinking only makes all your problems worse. Sober up and have the courage to take on these problems. We're all here to support you and give you encouragement. We've been there ourselves, believe me!

Hi Life changes ,nice to see you here .
I hope you can see a way to put the drink down . I know through experience that when I was drinking I always felt very depressed so my way of thinking was distorted although I couldn't see it at the time. The fun and happiness always left me after the first hour , the days that followed were misery and depression , no matter how much I drank I couldn't feel happy .
I think that you are talking through depression which isn't the real you .

Wishing you all the best .

Welcome back LifeChanges. Remember, alcohol is a depressant so it’s naturally going to bring you down eventually. Why don’t you pour it out and restart being sober. We’re rooting for you.
