Scared to death
I'm a little scared to do this. It's way out of my comfort zone. This endless cycle of using scares me because it has such a hold on me. I know the ending to my story. My drugs is the writer.
The beauty of this site is that you can be as anonymous as you choose to be. There's a lot of good experience and insight on here, and you certainly don't have to post if you'd rather not, but please do read what folks have to say. The also have a woman-specific forum if that makes you more comfortable.
Hi lisajan
I thought that way when I found SR too - but this community gave me hope that I could regain control of my life, and write the ending to my story that I wanted.
I was an all day everyday drinker - sober over ten years now so anything is possible...literally
Glad to have you join us

It's very usual to be scared when you face stopping the drug/alcohol you've been using. Have faith that you can do this.

Being scared totally makes sense. I hope, however, that you find comfort in knowing that there are sooooo many people here who get it and have gone through what you are going through right now. Lots of advice and support is available here if you choose to take advantage of it I'm very happy you found this site :_
Welcome Lisa
Fear is an emotion that can prompt you to get off the roller coaster ride of addiction. A saying that you might read around here a lot is 'playing the tape forward' - if you keep using where will you end up? Six feet under?
What if you stopped using? You could be happy, successful, content?
Do whatever it takes to stop. Will power alone didn't work for me, fear worked for awhile but I learnt I needed drastic steps taken (inpatient treatment) and ongoing therapy to kick this addiction out the window.
This site helps me daily as well. So read around, you will find similar people who completely get what you are going through.
wishing you well
