Complete loss of appetite

I'm 16 days alcohol free and the last 4 days I've had a compete loss of appetite. I'm drinking a lot of water, hot tea, and vitamin water beverages, but there's no hunger. I have to remind myself to try and eat and apple or some cheese and crackers or something. I'm not feeling sick or anything, just... not at all hungry.

Is this a common thing?

Not for me!
Then again I'm a stress eater. Some people are opposite. Major changes can cause change in appetite either way.
If you're not feeling hungry then I would pile on the veg.
Maybe a trip to the Doc is in order if you don't feel it pick up in the coming days.

If your not hungry I wouldnt worry about it. You will eat when you are hungry. At least this is how my body works.

I'm on my first night of being sober. I haven't had an appetite for 2 weeks. I'm forcing myself to eat an orange right now. I hope it will return. Sorry you are going thru this as well

I don't know if it's common, but make sure you eat enough even without having an appetite.

It was true for me! At the start, I had to make myself eat even twice a day. My appetite gradually woke up over a couple weeks and then became bigger and then normalized. A process. I did so much damage to my body and had to start listening for- and as far as eating, kinda force- what it needed.

Staying sober was the only way I knew I would keep getting better, all around.

Keep going!

Food is such a critical part of a healthy life, I would try and eat something even if you are not hungry. You can research "gut health" on the internet if that kind of thing interests you. Congrats on your sober time, it gets better.

The body needs to adjust in many ways, if like me it took years of drinking to get to the point of quitting, it's going to take some time for the body to heal.

Give it what it needs, things will get better with time!!
