Maybe prison is what it will take. Life is very hard for some folks and changing oneself after years of addiction is terribly difficult. It is frightening the terrible self destruction that addiction can unleash.

I was very sad reading your friends story but your compassion is very moving. He is fortunate to have friends like you.

FreeOwl - I was on the brink of total destruction when I finally quit, & I guess that's where your friend is. It could have gone either way for me, so I kind of understand. It's tragic that he didn't feel more hopeful & encouraged by his new found sobriety. I don't know what more needs to happen to get him to stop this - as you said, maybe prison.

I'm sorry for your friend FreeOwl - and sorry for the pain it causes you too.
