Day 1
My wife saw how much I had been spending on alcohol when she logged into our bank account this morning. I know I have a problem and have wanted to seek help for a long time but never have. "I'll stop tomorrow" was my reasoning for having just 1 more beer every night....
I've been going to therapy for a few months for depression/anxiety but have never told the doctor about my drinking problem. I called her today to make an appointment to discuss it. I have also decided to go to my first AA meeting -tonight.
I'm hoping to check in regularly here as well as attend AA meetings and continue therapy to stop drinking. I feel like I have a good plan but any advice is welcomed.

Newlife- welcome. Advice- do what you say you WILL do. Promises lead to mistrust when broken. Invest in the plan you have got- work on it, every day- refine. Go to meetings, therapy. See your doc. about your health.
Support and well done. Join a thread or 2- the 'Class of May 2017' should be up and running in the next few hours. I joined the March '16 class and still post there often, found some good friends- not just virtual avatars.

Welcome to SR newlife. Many folks will tell you that you can wish and pray to stop drinking forever. It isn't until we take action that the real magic starts to happen. I mention that because it sounds like you are taking action, and that's a great start.
Hello and welcome.
You're already taking great steps by admitting you have a problem, telling your therapist and attending an AA meeting.
I hope with such a great plan in place you will find sobriety.
I wish you the best and keep coming back, you'll find great support here, too.
