A great post Bunny. Thank you. It will help people perhaps more than you may realise now.

Many of your posts helped me greatly when I was starting out in sobriety. They gave me direction and guidance when I needed them.

Your courage has paid dividends in other people's lives also.

Thank you for sharing. I needed to read this today. I'm on day 2 and find your story truly inspirational. Do you mind if I ask how long you drank for?

Thanks everyone. I am glad I could be helpful.

I drank from age 17-32 ...so.... 15 years give or take. I didn't start particularly young. And even though my drinking career was not that long, I was destroyed at the end. It was like I fell off a cliff at the end! I mean, around the clock, drinking listerine, DTs, vomiting blood, not able to eat etc. It was bad. Miraculously my body is as healthy as a horse now. No permanent damage.

Remember, though - it is not the amount of time you drank that matters-it is where your drinking takes you. My drinking took me to the point of no longer wanting to be alive.

Inspiring post, I hope in two years I am feeling as optimistic. I started my sober journey two years ago as well but have hand a handful of relapses.

Such a wonderfully helpful, hopeful post Bunny. Many will be inspired by your heartfelt words. I wish I'd kept a journal of all I put myself through. It's so important to never forget where we've been. Thank you.

Thank you Bunny <3
You among many here are a testament to the good we bring into our own lives by living intentionally and authentically and having faith- in ourselves, something greater than ourselves, and relying on the experience, strength and hope of others in our troubled times.
I have said it often in this last week, sometimes we have to listen to the whispers of urges to take small steps, to go to those places where we can choose to hear the good, see the good, to see we are really capable of achieving anything no matter how low we have sunk in our lives. And when we take action, take accountability for our own lives and choices, own ourselves and our truths, the good comes to us, in small ways, and then big ways, and then we are fueled by the desire to do and be better, and to keep what we have by sharing it with others.
We fear letting our light shine sometimes, being our true selves, but often our own light can be a beacon to others.
With much love and gratitude, thank you for sharing this with us. I've also followed your story. You have humility and deserve to have pride in yourself for how far you've come, the work you've put in, and the goodness you pay forward in life, to us and others.
Merci madame. You are wonderful.
