Oh it's harder than you think
Alcohol. Is. Everywhere. And legal. And not terribly expensive. It's one of the most available commodities out there. I think this is a reason why so many alcoholics cry relapse, siting an inability to "get away from alcohol". Booze is everywhere and this is something alcoholics need to accept in order to progress in Sobriety. You don't have to like it but you can't change it and I'm sure you don't want to miss life holed up in a four walled alcohol-free room for eternity. Acknowledge it and move on.

Well I made it home and finished up the trip in a positive way. Actually had a decent time once I got my AV in line.
The point of my original post was to explain to others, new to sobriety, that when stepping out of your comfort zone plan for the worst and hope for the best. Over plan because at least in my experience it's more difficult than I anticipated.

I went on a cruise while I was in active addiction. It was a nightmare - noone in our group knew the volume I drank and I didn't want to have the bar tab through the roof sneaking drinks all day. Funny to think that I could have enjoyed myself more if I wasn't craving the next drink

Hiding drinking was the worst. The amount of effort in hiding it was crazy.
Im glad you were able to enjoy, md you have another notch in that sobriety checklist of firsts. We went to Vegas last weekend, and I was pretty sure I was the only one not drinking in the entire city at one point. We enjoyed shows, good meals, and lost some money along the way, but it turned out to be a great weekend. I am just about 14 months sober, and felt fine not drinking, not sure if I could have done it last year at this time.
