Day 1, Excited and scared
Hi all,
I'm new here and wanted to say Hi. I am so scared to be on day 1 but am excited also and looking forward to my journey following relapse in November. I hate drinking. Yesterday I drank 3 bottles of wine and some vodka. I drink every day and night until I sleep. I just can't do it anymore.

Welcome and good luck! Don't mistake feeling crap for a few days as a sign you'd feel better drunk! Day 8 here and the fog of withdrawal and being soaked in wine for two years is just beginning to lift. Take it easy!

Welcome, Adele!
It helps me a lot to never, ever let myself forget what it was like, especially whenever thoughts of trying it again come into my mind. It also helped to have a good recovery plan and support because for me, just not drinking never worked for long.
There's a huge freedom in being free of alcohol and I appreciate it every day now.

I know way too well about relapses. Personally, I feel it gets harder each time because I feel I can quit again.
Here's my new take on it. I feel better with withdrawals than I do a hangover feeling poisoned and not being able to make it to the bathroom in time.

Thank you. I have Librium from my Dr and found that very good in the past. I have a week's supply to see me through but I'm so determined this time. I am slim but I have piled on weight since I went back drinking (3 bottles of wine daily will do that) I'm really noticing it this week and I hate that I'm doing this to my body, God knows what inside looks like. I just want to be better.

Hi,
Welcome. Getting sober is the best decision you'll ever make. With that being said it will also be extremely difficult. I used to have to get out of my house and I'd go to parks constantly and people watch and walk and I'd look at all these people and think are they sober? Is this what sober people do? Maybe they're all just getting sober and looking at me and asking themselves the same question (haha). Anyhow, it gets better and one's life blossoms.

The last time I gave up alcohol I really realized how many people actually have problems with alcohol. It is frightening
