Why do we say today is our last drink?

Hmmm. When I'm on a bender, my mind says no, but my body says yes and now. When I'm not addicted my mind says yes and my body could care less. But I got to a point where both said no so I asked for help in the form of treatment.
Hi Marisa,
I struggled with that too. As a matter of fact I also struggled with "today I will not drink", as saying it first thing in the morning somehow got lost by the time I left work.
What did work for me was "today I will do something else". A plan, with tasks to keep me busy and make me happy.
That said, on the very early days, my focus was on avoiding the first drink. That somehow seemed easier and here I am almost 5 months sober. I think te though played a role, but by far the plan was the game changer.
Hope you find the strength you need.
