One week ago today.....

I checked into Detox. Today is day 8 of no alcohol. Physically I feel pretty good except my sleep pattern is no better now than when I was drinking.

The most draining thing is the emotional roller coaster. Since leaving Detox I have experienced extreme anxiety, to terrible depression, and moments of calm and peace. This morning it's depression.

I really want avoid meds. But I have had an anxiety disorder since at least college, as well as bouts of depression. I need to get back to therapy and exercise.

Anyway, I am glad not to be drinking.

Give it time Horn. In 30 days things will probably look much different. I know that seems like a long time but compared to the length of time you probably drank, its nothing.

I think you need to give it some time, Horn. Your brain chemistry is probably still all over the place. If the mental side doesn't calm down soon though it wouldnt hurt to check it out with a Dr

Great job on 8 days! Take it one day at a time and focus on why you quit. Hang in there!

Thanks Dee. I am sure they will. As someone stated, my moods are all over the place. I feel pretty ok emotionally right now, other than wishing my stepdaughter would go play in traffic, but I digress!

As I've read, mood swings are normal in PAWS.
