Time is great for changing perceptions.

The more times I didn't drink with people or family members the more that became normality and people could start to see the benefits of the decision.

Plus people are only looking at what they are loosing themselves rather than what we are gaining through Sobriety, it's a very selfish immediate outlook, but that will also change in time.

Hang in there!!

Sometimes people were more comfortable with us when we were messed up. We remind them that that can change, and that kind of change can feel scary.

You may have to "fire" your family or at least distance yourself from them. I've fired my family for the most part, and it's exhilarating. You're breaking out of the "role" they assigned to you, and they don't like it.

Good on you for your sober holiday! They weren't making fun of you, they don't get it.
