The 'I survived Christmas SOBER' club
The 'I survived Christmas SOBER' club
Well I'm glad to say I'm in the club again this year.
No drinks apart from fancy non alcoholic bevvies I invented. The hit, personally, this year was;
1 part lime-aid
2 parts cranberry sprite
4 ice cubes
3 cranberries
No hangovers, no regrettable behaviors, just presence and goodness and togetherness and an enjoyable season with family.
If you made it in the club this year, CONGRATULATIONS!!
If you struggled and didn't, then this is the place to share and seek ideas for how to make it next time.
In either case, another Christmas is behind us and another New Year lies ahead.....
So it's time to ramp up our plans to ring in the new; sober, happy and true!!

Add me to the club! My favorite drink was similar to yours, Free: sparkling water, cranberry/pomegranate juice and pomegranate seeds, with a lime wedge! Better than any vodka tonic I used to have!
I am joining, too! Didn't need any 'fancy drinks' just flavored water but, it was just my family.
Maybe at another party or another situation I will try your 'virgin' drink ideas!

Sadly, I had a lot of anxiety about the shame and embarrassment I face as I return to work in 2017 - I was actively drinking at the office and it was obvious. The anxiety got very intense over the holidays.
I didn't drink. I didn't have cravings but I was pretty sad. Day 31 today.

I'm just sad because I continued to try to moderate in the face of work being aware and relapsed again and I feel ashamed because I love my job a lot and I'm great at it when sober. The holidays did bring some clarity to my sobriety purpose - I ruined a lot of things drinking even if no one "caught me" and those things that only I know were impacted as reasons to stay sober too.

Water - you are not alone in facing embarrassment in the workplace due to behavior. I lost my business partner after needing to go to rehab and need to regroup. However I can only change my choices moving forward and am thankful to be sober. You will get through this! I'm on day 41. Stay strong!!
