The 'I survived Christmas SOBER' club

Well I'm glad to say I'm in the club again this year.

No drinks apart from fancy non alcoholic bevvies I invented. The hit, personally, this year was;

1 part lime-aid
2 parts cranberry sprite
4 ice cubes
3 cranberries

No hangovers, no regrettable behaviors, just presence and goodness and togetherness and an enjoyable season with family.

If you made it in the club this year, CONGRATULATIONS!!

If you struggled and didn't, then this is the place to share and seek ideas for how to make it next time.

In either case, another Christmas is behind us and another New Year lies ahead.....

So it's time to ramp up our plans to ring in the new; sober, happy and true!!

I will join you in the "Hangover-Free" section.

I did drink four eggnog lattes, though. No regrets.

Add me to the club! My favorite drink was similar to yours, Free: sparkling water, cranberry/pomegranate juice and pomegranate seeds, with a lime wedge! Better than any vodka tonic I used to have!

Raises hand.

Water and tea here!

It was an emotionally difficult holiday for me...too many recent losses came back to haunt...but I got through it. And now I know I can.

I am joining, too! Didn't need any 'fancy drinks' just flavored water but, it was just my family.
Maybe at another party or another situation I will try your 'virgin' drink ideas!

I'm in. Soft drink and water. Danced my sox off. Actually I was barefoot.

Hi Jillwink. We made it. Yay!

Woohoo add me please!

I drank some pop and tea over the holidays. Nothing too fancy, but I had plenty of great food to eat.

I am there, though not without some longing glances at an open bottle of chardonnay at friends' house. Sigh. May I have some more sparkling cider, please?

Sadly, I had a lot of anxiety about the shame and embarrassment I face as I return to work in 2017 - I was actively drinking at the office and it was obvious. The anxiety got very intense over the holidays.

I didn't drink. I didn't have cravings but I was pretty sad. Day 31 today.

Great job everyone! I tried a Dr. Pepper with real sugar (not the fake stuff)... It hit the spot.

You say you are sad Water, yet I'm so happy for you. Funny old world. You made it, that's what counts.

I'm just sad because I continued to try to moderate in the face of work being aware and relapsed again and I feel ashamed because I love my job a lot and I'm great at it when sober. The holidays did bring some clarity to my sobriety purpose - I ruined a lot of things drinking even if no one "caught me" and those things that only I know were impacted as reasons to stay sober too.

Happy to be in this club too! Just great time with my husband and son with a yummy pot roast. I'm looking forward to a sober 2017!

Water - you are not alone in facing embarrassment in the workplace due to behavior. I lost my business partner after needing to go to rehab and need to regroup. However I can only change my choices moving forward and am thankful to be sober. You will get through this! I'm on day 41. Stay strong!!

Well I'm in the club but I will say hanging out with my family partying wasn't all that much fun. But at least I stayed sober
