Am I in the clear

I'm looking for some answers . I am a severe alcoholic and quit cold turkey on nov 18 . I have not had a drink since . I did have withdrawal symptoms but I think the worst of them are over . Am I in the clear as far as possible seizure or dt or death ?

Hi Kake

I'm not a doctor but based on my experience, I think a month would generally see you clear of that kind of stuff.

Might be good to see a Doctor sometime soon tho - get a complete physical to make sure everything's ok?

Welcome to SR

The severe/life threatening withdrawals are overwith in about 4 days, from there on out is where the hard work starts of staying sober to make sure you never have to go through it again.

I agree with Dee. I would (and did) go to my doctor and had a complete physical- everything. Although I was terrified at what at I may find out- it gave me information to make changes to my lifestyle. Prayers, PJ.

Great job, Kake. First 30 days are tough and you're close to nailing it. Get your health checked out, like everyone else said.

Keep up the good work! I'm really proud of you.

Another vote for seeing a dr just to be sure plus it helps staying in touch with a dr in sobriety

Good job

I think the acute phase (where it can be the most dangerous) has very likely passed, but you may be experiencing some post-acute withdrawal symptoms (PAWS) which can be very annoying. I agree that seeing your doc to make sure all is well is a good idea. I'm sure you will come through with flying colors!

After 27 years of daily drinking I had my last drink on October 24th, 2016 and went through some tough days. I went to the doctor on October 27th and got a physical and blood test. I also started anti-depressants.

Today, 52 days later I am feeling pretty good.

Good luck recovering.
