Back after months and months of mayhem

I could hardly get by a weekend las time. Then went hell for leather back to the madness. A few royal screwups recently I am back here again. Hopefully today is day 1. I have to do this

I think the FAQ is: do you have a plan? Or, what are you going to do differently this time?
Hang in there, it does take a couple of redo's sometimes. But you know many of us have been there and sobering up for good is doable.

I have a rough plan in mind FL. One is break old habits ,even which way I go home. Also keep different company. Think of me and be firm with people who don't get it.

Good idea!
I always drank alone so getting away from drinking buddies wasn't a challenge I faced. I imagine that would be a big obstacle for those who spent time at bars or drinking with friends.

Welcome back Azure

My advice is to put as much energy thought and action into a plan as soon as you can.

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ery-plans.html

The more you put in the more you'll get out of it.

Hoping is nice but it's rarely enough, y'know?

Welcome back Azure !!

I too am looking for ways to fill the space that used to be occupied by drinking. I am volunteering time for an organization, exercising more and focusing on my spirituality. You can do this !!

So day 1 went well. Spent time with my kids, it felt nice cos my mind was on what I was doing and not zoning out wondering how much booze I could pack in unnoticed (it always is though). Did some reading on plans(thanks for the link) and tackled some stuff I had neglecting. Woke about an hour ago 4am. Strange dreams.Had some tea, tea is great. Feel like a fish out of water. Feel like I've gone to a shopping mall and forgot what I wanted and I am standing there and everyone is buzzing around with a purpose, meeting people, making plans, getting what they need... and I am standing there frozen in time almost.
More tea and read my book now. Bring on day two. Even if no one reads this I feel good putting my thoughts down. It feels really indulgent though.

Hi Azure. Welcome back. I'm new here so don't believe I've seen you here since I joined last month.

I like your analogy about feeling like your at the shopping mall confused. For me it does explain how I felt when I first stopped (By the way, I can't stand being in a shopping mall) so remembering that feeling and associating with being in the shopping mall will help me stay sober. Thank you.

I'm not sure how long you've gone without drinking before, but if it hasn't been very long then I deeply encourage you to give it your all to go at least 30 days so you can see how much better you would feel at that time compared to now.

Take care. Stay close. It helps.

Excellent job, Azure! I just had a cup of caffeine free tea myself as I ready myself for bed. It's very calming.

Onward to your day 2. Keep it going. You've got this!

Hi Quincy
Thanks for that. Yeah I rejoined yesterday. Funny you should ask. I lasted 29 days last year. Was feeling good then I went into a bar after a long and stressful shift then boom. After that I managed a few Monday to Fridays here and there, not many. 30 days sounds good. I also get the mall thing and I am pretty sure I have actually done the above! Nice meeting you Quincy

I'm so glad you were able to come back, Azure. I love a good book. May I ask what you are reading?

Day two down. The cravings and inner tussle very strong around 4 pm. Had to tell a friend that we'd have a catch up in a cafe as opposed to the pub. He was cool about it, even through it didn't happen in the end .Managed some exercise. Strange dreams again but slightly better sleep , as in I woke at 5 am drenched in sweat and not 4 am! With a headache.
Day 3 is Saturday. It's going to be a challenge but I have made plans for most of the day. Dealing with the aftermath of screw ups is challenging too, Twos sober and it creeps into one's mind what has happened these last ten blurry years. It's alarming and disturbing, as is the guilt. I guess that's easier to deal with in time as it is further in the distant past and the conscience becomes less troubled. Hope so
