Broke My Femur Sober

Broke my femur right by my hip sober. Foot had fallen asleep and tried to get up and socks didnt hold on slippery floor so I fell. Now I get to deal with crutches for 5 weeks....sucks.

Ouch! I'm so sorry to hear about your fall.

Having dealt with crutches more than I want to admit... pad the tops! Your armpits will thank you. Also, make sure they're the correct height. Another lesson I learned.

I hope you heal quickly.

Man, that sucks. I don't know which is worse to deal with: the pain or the crutches. Hang in there and maybe you can catch up on some reading, movies, writing, anyways, here's to good healing.

I broke my ankle sober while sitting on a toilet. Had to have a plate put in surgically. Amazing I never broke anything while drunk. Hope you feel better!

LOL. Is that wild? Fun story. I was sitting there in the middle of the night minding my own business when I rolled my ankle. It felt weird but I thought nothing of it and went back to bed. Next day I got up and it was sore so I assumed I strained it. Put an Ace bandage on and went about my day. Later I unrolled the ace and I was black and blue all over. Ok, so I thought something is wrong. Went to Urgent Care for an x ray, surprise! You broke it! Off to the Orthopedist who told me I cracked it in such a sensitive area that if I didn't get a plate put in I would just re break it over and over. Had surgery and wore that hideous black boot for as month. All courtesy of my toilet. I nicknamed it Bruiser.

Welcome to recovery.

When I had two years clean I ran over my own ankle with my own Jeep and fractured my fibula.

Motrin works and people with clean time aren't flawless....

I tripped and fell over my "Welcome Mat". Stone cold sober.

Broke my foot in three places. 3 surgeries and many, many months with cast, boot, back to cast, then boot. I thought it would never end.

I can tell you a week ahead of time, when it's going to rain. lol

How are you doing, MagillaGorilla?

I just broke my foot like 20 days in sobriety by stepping off what was supposed to be a curb ! Luckily I can still walk and no hard cast, just a boot for now

Maybe we are less floppy and flexible when we are sober?

That's why you hear about drunk drivers walking (or stumbling) away from serious car collisions.

Hope you get well soon Magilla!
