Feeling better

Hi everyone. I'm at day 195 and thought I would check in. I had PAWS for a time, and in my early days I still felt bad. Years of drinking took their toll. But in the last few weeks I have finally begun to feel good, and it is great. I have an exercise program that I do, very low impact, but it keeps me busy in the evenings. There have been times I have been dangerously close to drinking. Hitting triggers can push me to the edge. But I am coping. I don't want to go back to my past behavior. A typical night was a tall boy 12 pack. Weekends I would drink all day. I shudder when I think of it now. Everything people say is true. I finally wanted to be sober. This site, and out patient counseling, have helped me. I am trying to live a simple life and avoid stress. I am coming to terms with my drinking past. I see this as a long process, one where I change from my previous drinking life to a new, better, sober one. I want to thank SR for being here. I read the posts almost every night. I try to offer encouragement if I can to others. I feel confident that I am on a better path. Thank you all.

So glad to hear of your accomplishment Jim. A new, better, sober life sounds really great. Scary, strange, unknown, but REALLY great. Thanks for checking in and sharing. It helps all of us.
