Insomnia
First time here...I realized I was going through withdrawals when I couldn't sleep...at all...for 3 days after I stopped (had a long vacation). I don't feel I crave the alcohol that much, but on the weekends at social events I want to have a couple of beers. Does having a couple (3-4) reset my withdrawal symptoms? After a week I was starting to get back to normal, but yesterday and today I had 4 drinks and now I can't sleep again?
Any hints on how to actually fall asleep?

Yes. Quit drinking. If you are alcoholic you probably won't be able to moderate long term. Maybe for a few months, then generally alcohol intake will resume to its previous level, and often increase.
How quickly you will become physically dependent again is different for everyone. But I know for me, I become dependent very fast now. Of course when I drink, I drink a ton. Alcoholism is progressive and if left untreated, generally gets much worse over time....

Hi Back2Normal - welcome
If you're having trouble sleeping the best thing you can do is quit entirely IMO. Certainly if you're familiar with withdrawal, the good money says you've passed the point of being able to have those 'few' weekend drinks.
It took a week or two for me but I fell back into a pattern f great sleep and it's continued.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm still trying to fall asleep...just feel my heart pumping and thinking how things will be if I don't drink...when people ask why I don't want to got a winery or brewery (my wife and I like to go to those often). I'm respnsible in that I don't drink and drive, but I would usually just get home then drink too much. I just feel if I don't keep alcohol at the house I can still drink socially....don't know I guess, but i just feel sacred and want to be able to sleep :/
