Keep on keeping on!
I'd rather see you sober here than drunk on youtube.

And drinking as part of cannabis detox...that's a good one...good excuse, I mean.

I have pictures that were taken of my
car accident 25yrs ago when I hit a
concrete culvert sitting on top the
ground. Those pictures were taken
for insurance purposes at the time
while I was layed up in the hospital
for 10 day with many broken ribs,
contusions, a punctured spleen and
fluid in my lungs removed.

There were other pictures taken
by authorities but were never found
for my jury trial against the state.

I used my pictures to my advantage
to teach my kids about drinking and
driving and a reminder of where I used
to be and would never wish to experience
that again.

That accident didn't stop me from
drinking which happened in Feb 1990.
I went on to pick up in August when I
healed nicely from my accident thinking
I could handle my drinking, when really
I picked up exactly where I left off and
emmediately tried to end my life as a
failure.

Family stepped in with an intervention
and my last day drunk and beginning of
my recovery is August, 11, 1990. Some
25 yrs of many one days sober at a time
incorporating a program of recovery
taught to me in a 28 day instay rehab
facitlity with a 6 week outpatient aftercare
program attached to help me achieve
health, happiness and honesty in my
life today.

UB, I did not see the video or picture, but it sounds like you are in an unhealthy place after a long stint of sobriety. I wish you the best man. I hope you can pull everything back together. You know how this ends, and its usually not good for most of us.

True at least for me.
Never worked out for the good.
I tried so many ways that didn't work.
Perscription pills etc etc.
Wasn't until I stopped everything
that I found peace of mind and heart.

I don't know about you.... but for me, 'soon' was a big fat lie.

It wasn't until I shifted to 'I am done drinking and embracing sobriety NOW' that things ever actually changed.

It's been removed. You'll have to PM UnixBer and ask him.

UB - Please be kind to yourself & reclaim your life. You can get free and never go back to that miserable place.

That is pure craziness to justify drinking alcohol to detox faster from marijuana. What worked for you when you had 20 months? Why did ya go back?

Good point.
Some that I have known did not stop when they had the chance
only to die with a bottle in their hands.
At least three of my former friends in AA died this way.
All three were around 50 years old.

If I add in the one who took his life that makes 4.
He got so tired of starting over in his sobriety.

Today is the day to get serious -- very serious.

Hi UNIX,

I hope you are doing okay today. I also hope you decide to make today your new day one. You have proven that you can stop drinking, go back and look at what worked for you during those 20 months.

I had the same thought - Unix I hope you're doing better today.

Hey guys. I totally agree with the material being unfitting and potentially triggering to some people and will not post anything such as that anymore.

There is however one vid that I took for facecam, it's about a game that I've played just about endlessly in recovery and it's short introduction of me and the game. No booze or knives involved.

So this must be something that has no negative impact on anyone's feelings and might even be supportive to recovery I hope. Dee you'll still be the judge of that. Thanks for the replies and good ideas.

I have to be honest - I'd much rather you talk about your recovery in this forum UB.

I understand you might play this game a lot - but there's more than enough scope for discussions about games and stuff in other SR forums.

If you could stick to recovery here - what you're doing, what problems you're having, any successes - it'll be much appreciated.

thanks

Yeah Dee I understand. For now my plan is to stop as soon as I can. I'll post an update when I'm totally sober and won't be posting anything drunk at the very least.

Thanks for the support folks. SR is truly a godsend.
Have a nice sober day.

I don't want the message you, or anyone else, to come away with to be that SR is only for people who are sober.

That's not true.

I think the great benefit of SR is that it's as much for people struggling, as anyone else

I don't even want you to come away with the idea that you can only talk about recovery on SR, cos that's not true either.

But this forum especially is a place for people to talk about their struggle.
Maybe you were leading into that with the game discussion, I don't know?

The last thing I want to do is make you or anyone else unwelcome here

but...I also want people to know if there's one place they can reach out to each other and make contact, or one place where they can speak about their problems with addiction, or their loved ones problems, they'll be heard here
