It’s time

Been drinking for over 40 years, the last three years have gotten worse. This past week started last Wednesday, Sunday was the really bad started at 1:00pm past out around 5:00pm threw up three times last night, seating at work with a hangover. So yes it’s time, I’ll be 59 this years I just don’t want to do this anymore.

Hi Rolo, you are in a good place to help stop (drinking) and then start (recovery). Welcome and look around -- you will find tons of great information, advice, and support here on SR and many ideas what else to do for sobriety if you need more.

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

Hi, Rolo. It was kind of like that for me, too. I drank for a looooooooong time, and just in the final couple of years it became too great a hell to carry on. Started going downhill fast.

Sorry you're feeling cruddy today. Turn the ship around. It's never too late to get well. You can be feeling better very, very soon. Heck, the first day you get up without a hangover (even with very little sleep), you'll feel a decade younger.

I'm pulling for you. You can do this. I promise.

My hangovers were brutal by the time I quit drinking, at 54. I'm 59 now and feel as good now as I did when I was 40, which was just before my drinking went off the rails.

Hi Rolo, I'm with you. Been in a hard relapse myself and I just have to be positive and move forward. I hope you do the same. Been on off alcohol for about 20 years. Awful these last 6 or 7. Stay positive.

Glad you found us Rolo. Keep posting and reading. Between this forum and AA I found a great support network. Really don't think I could've done it without them.

I believe sometimes it takes that realization that its just time to do something different and that the same old, same old is just-not-working. Wish you the best. Keep posting, it helps.
