30 Days Today - And Why It's SO Worth It

Today is 30 days of sobriety for me, hard to believe I have made it this far, this time. I have my supportive family to thank for helping me get here!

A month ago, I was battered and bruised, physically and mentally. I had just gotten out of a trip to the ER and a detox after nearly a week of binge drinking. I had not eaten in a few days, I was bruised from being assaulted while in detox, my knees and head hurt from falling down a flight of stairs, I was dehydrated and sleep deprived, my esophagus and stomach were torched from puking, and I felt beaten down and defeated.

Today, my bruises are healed, I'm eating better than I have in years, I sleep soundly and peacefully, and my anxiety is largely gone. I'm working out at the gym 6 days a week and feeling stronger every day. I'm feeling empowered and optimistic even with some big decisions I have ahead of me.

Seek - and accept - the help you need and know that with each passing sober day it will get better. Your body will heal and your mind and soul will be re-awakened.

Congratulations on 30 days and well done! I'm at about the same point and can relate to a lot of what you said. I didn't go to detox but I had the bruises, damage from constant vomiting and lack of nutrition from not eating. All better now. Isn't it amazing what sobriety can do in such a short period of time? Here's to countless more sober days ahead!

congratulations on 30 days i wish i had the courage you do! i wanted to message you but i can't since i am a new member. but i look forward to talking to you in the future.

i can relate to most of what you posted.. i used to be in great shape, lifting almost every day.. but now im back to the old antics and let me tell you... it felt so much better when i was sober and living at the gym, than my life now which is waking up almost every morning hungover and feeling sluggish. Keep doing your thing, and congrats again. Keep it up. You are an inspiration to many, trust me.

When i finally get sober, ill remember posts like this one. They remind me that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
