Can't do it anymore
Henry.. I am 50 years old. Like you I drank for years; however the last 3 or 4 years it has spun out of control.
Day 12 for me today. I can related to your post.

Great job on day 2 HenryF. Keep it up. I drank every day for 20+ years. never took more than one day off in between drinking, not during holidays, not when I was throwing up sick with flu, not kids birthday parties, never.
My last year of drinking I progressed very quickly into drinking 24/7 and could justify it in in my own mind. My AV convinced me that there was nothing wrong with what I was doing. How sad!!!
I will guarantee you this, stick to sobriety and everything gets better. Life is still life, with all of its ups and downs, but the journey becomes much clearer and enjoyable. Don't let drinking steal another second.
