So sorry it did not work out Lily.
I think that later tonight SR has a recovery meeting in the chat room. It s not AA or OA but I have attended before and it is a nice and supportive setting. Facilitator (I think it's Huntington these days) chose a recovery topic and people take turn sharing only if they want to

I can't attend because I ll be at work but I m sure they will be plenty of friendly screen names there.

The meetings will be useful even if you don't say anything, as long as you enter the room with an open mind and a willingness to learn. At meetings we get the most out of things by focussing on the similarities rather than the differences, and remembering that these people don't have any agenda - they're just sharing their own experience, strength and hope.
Re working the steps - when you are ready to explore them, its up to you to choose someone who seems to have what you want (i.e. the kind of recovery that you'd like for yourself - not their car or job or something). You then need to ask that someone to sponsor you. Once that's been set up, then they will then go through the steps with you.
