new here and feeling lonely
[QUOTE=I am doing this alone so hopefully I can keep strong.[/QUOTE]
Friendships with others that suffer with the same malady has proven necessary for me. Isolation makes it harder. I try to get in the middle of a group of people that are recovering and float along with the group conscience.
Welcome to our group, we care.

Welcome to SR, zigzagging! I'm glad you joined us here. When I decided to quit I kept it to myself. Not really a "secret" per se but I didn't want the pressure of everyone knowing in case I failed. After a while once I felt sure it was going to "take" I began sharing my decision.
SR is a great community! You'll never be alone so long as you have an internet connection. We've been in your situation. You'll find a lot of encouragement, support and understanding under this virtual roof.

I too have felt really lonely lately. I have been spending a lot of time with my parents and sister but I've realized so many of my friends were just people to go out and drink with... Any advice from people on where to go to try and meet new sober friends??
