sober new year resolution!
Great advice.
The only resolution I followed through with was to have no more New Years resolutions!
That is until 2015. When I resolved to get myself in control.
It took nearly 5months to follow through. Those 5 months were the worst 5 months of my life.

Me!!!!
And I never thought id say this, but I don't miss drinking parties. I used to adore these opportunities to mentally check out and act crazy.
Then I realized it's a complete waste of time. A dream world. Everyone is out of their heads. No true connection, no real meaning shared between people.
Somewhere deep down inside everyone knows it's a waste. Cause they wake up not having gained anything but a hangover.
Yikes just typing that was depressing!
So grateful to be off that ferris wheel of insanity!!!!

Me!!
Enjoying lying here in bed, reading SR, listening to the fireworks warming up.
Today I picked up my 9 month chip and am just so grateful to start 2016 off in sobriety.
Will wake up early, take the pooch (who's very stressed right now) for a walk on
the beach and welcome in the New Year.

Rang in the new year quietly together with my Lady. At home just the two of us. A nice meal, a romancey movie, quiet togetherness at bedtime talking together and sharing loving feelings for one another.
Third sober NYE in a row as i begin my third year of sobriety.
Wonderful.
Happy New Year, friends!!

ME! I read and listened to music until 9:00 and then went to bed. Woke this morning feeling great. I'm about to go for my first jog of the new year and then will go birding with my wife. Tis great to feel great!
Being that I sobered up while working as a bartender, I am able to go to drinking parties without triggers...but I hate it. I find the company annoying due to the drinking. I bring cranberry juice and tonic to things like this and pour it in an appropriate glass to feel "included", but honestly I don't think I really need it anymore. I feel I would be just as happy with a bottle of water. Staying sober is part of me now, it's all of me. It got easier just like everyone said it would. I would rather stay home and go to bed early but, this is family and I still feel obligated to show face. I left at 12:15. I offered rides, all declined, all drove home drunk. Happy New Years! I am proud of all of you!
