I don't think God hates you Dan - dunno about you but God never poured a drink down my throat

The bottom line for me was I was putting more effort into drinking than not drinking.

I didn't want my life to change, but it had to, because my life was all about drinking.

I hope you stick around Dan - SR really helped me accept what I needed to do.

D

Dan, God doesn't hate you. You can do this and please do not give up hope. You are finding that things are worsening which is what happens because alcoholism is progressive and it will get worse unless you stop. Have faith that you will feel better and you can have the life you want when you stop drinking.

Hi Dan. You can do this but it's up to you. What have you tried and what is keeping you from stopping drinking?

What measures have you taken to attempt quitting Dan? Quitting is a choice you can make, no one else can force you to keep drinking and no one is "destined" to stay drunk.

It's a hard thing to do but anyone, you included, can get sober if they truly want to. If you keep waiting for things to get worse they definitely will...why not make the leap now and get some help?

Dan, I'm glad you're back and haven't given up. You know there's a better life waiting for you. Please never stop trying - you can quit, heal, and rebuild everything.

I know it feels impossible to think of a life without drinking, but it's a better life than I could have imagined. I hope the support here can help you get sober for good.

Hi Dan, as others have mentioned, if you cannot do this yourself, why don't you reach out for some help? By the tone of your post, you definitely want to stop. It would seem like the next logical step. You joined 3 years ago correct? Wish you the best.

Welcome back.

I am certain that God does not hate you, Dan.

What have you tried to help you get sober? Have you ever formulated a solid plan? There are some really links; I'll find them and attach them here.

Hello Dan,

I hope you come back to read all the supportive comments folks here shared with you.

I joined this site about 6 years ago and find myself struggling again. You have to want to be sober more than drunk. Its hard and a little scary, but you can do it. Try not to think of it in forever terms just for right now.

It's the ALCOHOL Dan......put down the drink for good and watch what happens. if you can't do so on your own, which seems to be the problem, then check yourself into a treatment center and drink in ALL they have to teach you about your disease and about how to live sober.
