Anyone in their twenties?
Great thread, Soulpower!
I wanted to take a moment to commend everyone here who is in their 20s and choosing sobriety. You're doing the right thing. Identifying a problem and addressing it at your age will open so many doors for you, doors that addiction would have kept closed.
I'm happy for you! Keep strong in your commitment.
Oh, and I'm old enough to be your ... uhm ... well ... much older sister. And I'm proud of you!

LOL, another old person here.
Just wanted to mention, my first husband got sober when he was 21 and stayed that way--he has celebrated 35 years of sobriety--he'll have 36 years in January. If he hadn't gotten sober I'm not sure he would have made it to 30. He's had a fantastic life with lots of friends and fun, and he's still at it.

I have always admired yall in your twenties making this change! If I had a crystal ball into my future I would have quit YEARS ago. As everyone says, things progress, it is harder to quit the older you get , and withdrawals get worse every time.
Good on you all, wish I had been as self aware at your age!

I racked up a few months of sobriety this year, and I was afraid of how my friends would react. Especially my drinking buddies. Everyone has been extremely supportive. I've heard from others that when you quit drinking you find out who your true friends are. They are the ones who will make sure to buy non-alcoholic beverages for you and be willing to change plans if you don't feel comfortable going to a bar.
There is a lot of alcohol advertising geared toward us 20-something's. But you know what? Yeah there are a lot of people I know who drink. They drink one drink and then they stop. I don't drink that way. I think you will be surprised to see how little "normal" people actually drink.
I hope you stick around. SR has given me the support I needed to quit drinking. You can do this!
