It's time

Hi. I'm new here. I started drinking after my mom passed three years ago. After drinking daily for three years and hearing what I put my husband and kids through, I decided it was time to stop. I quit cold turkey two weeks ago and haven't had one drink. My main issues are sleep disturbances, nightmares and gas/bloating. I am just looking for support since although my family is amazingly supportive, I don't think they understand the physical and mental changes. So just looking to get involved here, get some advice, and introduce myself.

Congratulations on 2 weeks sober.......Welcome to SR. As you've been drinking for three or so years, it will take some time to recover....your body needs time to heal, and it will happen.

Post here whenever you need to, and post often!

Welcome to SR Gina.

This community has a ton of support to offer. It is going to take some time for your body to adjust. I didn't experience the bloating, but the sleeplessness and vivid dreams, I did become accustomed to. It will get easier with time, much easier.

Hang in there and welcome.
