Uff Da
That is an expression I learned from my Norwegian family in MN. It can mean many things but it in this context it translates to "OMG".
My neighbors came home last night stinking drunk. They are a couple who don't have children and like to party. So I was outside moving my soaker hoses and they called me over. I was embarrassed for them. They were weaving and talking crap. They insisted that I come in and have a night cap with them and told me all of the liquor they have. Wow... it was amazing (if true). I said I was expecting an "important call" so needed to be available (not true). They seemed a little miffed, but oh well.
Seeing drunks when you are sober is not fun.

Uff da, agreed! Last night I texted a co- worker/friend to ask how the day in the shop had gone on my day off and he called me stinking drunk to relate some disaster he'd endured earlier that day. "It really crushed my soul, but I'm drunk now so it's all okay" he explained. He wouldn't stop rambling even after I explained I couldn't hear him over the noise from the bar he was at. We made some plans for Monday morning and I wonder if he'll remember. Between stuff like that and working alongside guys who are hung over as often as they are not, I have pretty frequent reminders of the life I don't want to go back to!

Drunk people now annoy me when I'm Sober.
The level of conversation drops off pretty quickly, and my interest in repeating things or knowing that the conversation won't be remembered the next day means it's not something I want to stick around for too long.

LOL! Thanks, AF.
I've heard a similar Sicilian saying called "OOO-FA!"
Uusally spoken when a dish of bracciole, meatballs, neckbones, sausage, etc, etc.,
are served.
Hey, I want a couple fresh bracciole, NOW!
