When I read: "Gonna give it a go." on the list of threads, I immediately felt like "This person is not gonna succeed with that attitude." I also thought to you, in my mind: "Give it everything you got. Give it your all!".
Reading your first post confirmed my suspicion that you're coming from the wrong place. You have already given up before you started.
Set all that aside and think; "I AM going to do this!". Act as though it's the most important thing you'll ever do, because likely it is!
