Brainwash
Nice to see you purpleknight.
It definitely took me a long time to admit I'm an alcoholic. I guess how long it took isn't important. Glad to be here and alive. But I suddenly feel free now. I never would have thought this to be the case. You read about it here all the time, but you have to figure the puzzle out yourself that's for sure.

For me booze was kind of like that. I could not recall anything worse than someone whispering that I was drunk, or smelled or had a problem. The yelling I could deal with - confrontation I excelled at.
But the whispering.......that's how the monster thrived.
In sobriety ya'll have turned the light switch on for me. I am no longer afraid of the monster alcoholism. I am always respectful, but not scared. I don't drink.
Not long ago a gal I recently met leaned towards me taking a sniff. My first thought immediately went to - Oh goodness! Hope I don't smell like........
She was admiring some aftershave my wife had bought me and wanted to know the brand

I just started reading Jason Vale's Kick the Drink Easily and he strips away all the myths and bs about drinking. It's really changing my perspective and validating all the reasons that I was so afraid to give it up. I highly recommend it.
Thank you Flyn. I've seen you around here for a while now and you always have something insightful to say. Very helpful. 👍
