I'm new

I am grateful to have found a welcoming and supportive forum. Have tried getting and staying sober before and am hoping that ready access to encouragement will make it stick this time. Any suggestions on daily activities/meditations to keep me strong and in the right frame of mind?

Hi Betsi, welcome to SR.

I did a bit of light exercise, mostly walking, during the 'witching hour' of about 8-9pm when my cravings were at their worst.

Actually pretty much any activity is good in early recovery (even boring old chores). It acts as a distraction

There are guided meditations on you tube That helped me out a lot in early sobriety. Also, I read a lot of books about staying in the moment , I beleive eckhart tohles book a new earth spoke to me a lot back then.

Welcome to the family! I used to walk my dogs in early recovery when I'd have cravings to drink. After our walk my cravings were gone and the dogs were happy they got walked.

Welcome, Betsi

Shortly after I became sober, I discovered Mindfulness and I have found it helpful in many areas of my life. If you're not familiar with it, just google Mindfulness and you'll get a whole raft of information
