Cinco de Mayo
Funny, I always avoided those kinds of holidays because all the "light-weights" came out of the woodwork, and I always considered myself the cool, quiet brooding drunk who was better than the loud obnoxious drunks...
Agreed, I always thought the "special" drinking holidays were for rookies and rubes. Kind of like a Vegas bachelorette party shows up in your bar, with people screaming for no apparent reason. I guess I'm a bit of a snob that way.
Just got back from eating Mexican food at a place we've gone to since I was a kid. Interestingly enough, very few people were imbibing! Funny how when I was still drinking I thought EVERYONE was drinking....now that I'm sober, I see that isn't true at all.

One thing that really helped me with my drinking was to stop thinking of holidays and annual events as a "special day". Sure its not quite as exciting, but in the grand scheme of things, they are just another day. Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthday's, 4th of July...take your pick. Its just another day in our lives. The reward is feeling 100% the next morning when everyone else is belly aching about how their head hurts.
Lol I didn't even realize till bimini congratulated me on 4 months that today was the 5th..but I was never a huge partier on holidays...it was the days I was alone with myself that got me in trouble.
