Yes, the self loathing and anxiety do go away. It takes a little time but it's worth the wait. I found that practicing gratitude every day helped me a lot. It changed my whole attitude for the better and made my life more manageable.

I am also on day 7 like CeeFarro. I do feel better. No one (except friends on SR) know about my choice for sobriety. I just yesterday told my husband that I have been feeling better not drinking, so he is now choosing not to drink(although he don't have a problem). I've had a few compliments on my physical appearance , and that's always encouraging! Congradulations on your first day! Just concentrate 24 hrs at a time
