Hallo, newbie here
Hi all,
I found this forum today....it's struck a chord with me.....
Just to introduce myself, I'm a 40-odd year old guy who has an alcohol misuse problem, and who has taken the first steps to sort it out after a GP appointment last week with referral to expert help forthcoming, and a session at the local help clinic today with future counselling to come. Looking forward to getting myself straightened out, I've known I've had an issue for many years but now is the time to change - so I'm not ashamed to ask for help anymore......
It's been interesting reading other's stories and individual problems, some of which I can relate to.....it helps....hopefully I can contribute in some way...
Thanks.

Welcome to your new home! heehee. I joined in January and have been in and out, trying to get sober. I'm on the wagon again, and I couldn't do it without the support of everyone here. We can help you, too.
You've taken the biggest, most important step...

Hi lfh. I'm new here too. Just beginning to learn what it's all about. I'm finding a lot of really useful information and support here. I'm having to give up for medical reasons after decades of drinking every night. Can't say it's easy but I'm sure it'll be worth it. I think I'll do what you did and ask my GP if there's some help available.

Been an odd week.....drank very little (comparatively)....lovely day out today with all my family.....great times....and here I find myself at this hour with a glass of wine to hand....going to hate me when I wake, but I guess I'm not the only one to have been here.....doesn't make it feel less lonely though
