The Joys of Sober Energy
The Joys of Sober Energy
I was reflecting in bed last night how much that I was able to get done on Easter Sunday. I got up early, cleaned my house, shared in the joy of the Easter baskets for my kids that I had filled the night before, prepared a nice Easter dinner for my family and extended family, set a lovely table, spent 6 hours visiting with everyone and had enough energy to clean everything up before I went to bed! I woke up feeling refreshed, proud and happy to enter a clean kitchen for my coffee. Eighteen months ago, when I was still a drinker, everything would have seemed like a huge, time-sucking chore that I would have done half-assed and been counting down for the appropriate time for me to start sucking down my wine. Then, when everyone left, I would have immediately gone to my bed to pass out, leaving a horrendous mess to clean up the next morning while nursing a hangover and time to ruminate over any inappropriate thing I said or did the evening before.
My full fledge energy didn't come back until I was about six-nine months sober, but it was so worth the wait!! I love how much more I get done and get to do without the noose of alcohol around my neck!!

That's awesome.
I'm way more productive and responsible on sobriety too.
I'm still struggling to get back to levels of energy I used to have on a consistent basis - but I definitely have a far better attitude and attention to making progress on things in my life instead of just letting everything fall apart.
