Made it 2 days, working on 3rd
Detox is not fun. I had a prescription from my doctor. Was really itchy and racing heart. Seems OK now but fell like I'm living on a different planet. I'm taking 1 day at a time. I can't think about not drinking next week or year just that I will not today.
It's not fun but it is only temporary SFB...make sure you remember that. Soon you'll be through the initial WD phase. Taking it one day at a time seems like a great choice as well, don't forget someone is always here at SR if you need us.
I found that around the 4th to 5th day you will start feeling "human" again. You are more than 1/2 the way there. Drink a lot of fluids like Gatorade and try to eat some proteins. Also getting outside helped me a lot . Best wishes for a fast recovery...remember this is just the 1st phase of your recovery.
just one day at a time that is how all of this started you can do it.. prayers and tea look into teas that take time to brew and are so good for you.. mmm Black Berry Tea.. need some for lunch.. ardy

Thanks everyone. I feel like crap but am not going to mess this up. Haven't had a good nights sleep yet. I know there are good days ahead. Even now it's nice to wake up without a hangover. I'm exhausted all the time but I think it's the lack of sleep. I understand this is just the first stage of recovery. I'll keep my progress posted. What a great bunch of people on this board.
Stay strong, you can do this!
When I detoxed I had fearsome withdrawals even with Librium and other meds.
I drank a lot of Lucozade and other sugary things; strong, hot sweet tea helped but beware the caffeine monster! I also ate a lot of chocolate and sweets, not healthy but my body craved the sugars it was no longer getting from alcohol.
It's worth getting some bloods done if you can, I was very deficient in vitamin B and Thiamin amongst others but that will depend upon how much you drank and for how long.
Check in for support and believe me, it does get easier as time passes!
Take care
